Syed Saddiq is a debate enthusiast and youth activist who is currently employed as the youngest part-time lecturer in IIUM. He’s a world record holder for being the highest scored Debater (ESL) in the history of the World Universities Debate Championship. He is the record holder of Asia & Malaysia after being ranked TOP 10 at the World Universities Debate Championship and breaking for three consecutive years outwitting more than 800 Debaters from across the globe. He’s the reigning champion of Asia and two time Overall Best debater of Asia(2012 & 2015) and The Islamic World (2012&2015). He was recently appointed as the Chief Judge for this year’s Cambridge InterVarsities in the UK. This makes him the first Asian to be appointed that position. Outside of Asia, Saddiq is a three-time(2012-2014) Best debater of Australasia, Cambridge and Oxford Inter Varsities Debate Championship.

Saddiq has been invited to run seminars in more than 20 countries (i.e- South Afirca, Pakistan, Philippines, Taiwan, China, Qatar etc) regarding the art of debating and youth development. He’s also the Debate coach for Malaysia’s Junior World Schools Debate Team. Recently, Saddiq was appointed Editor-in-Chief of the Monash Debate Review, The World’s only peer-to-peer Online Debate Journal.

His contribution to debating and youth development has earned him Malaysia’s most prestigious Youth award, The Anugerah Perdana Belia Award straight from the hands of the Prime Minister. He is also a recipient of The Merdeka Award from The Minister of Youth & Sports, The National Student Leadership Award from the Ministry of Education & Berita Harian’s Ikon Varsity award. He was also handpicked to become the Perdana Fellow to Malaysia’s Minister of Law, YB Nancy Shukri.
