Haroun Mir has been engaged in the political evolution of Afghanistan for the past two decades as an advisor to foreign donors and governments, as an analyst and researcher and as a participant in his own right. Currently he is tasked in establishing the Business Integrity Network-Afghanistan(BINA) as its Executive Director. Previously, he served as a manager for a USAID stabilization program. Furthermore, he was also the Director and Co-Founder of Afghanistan’s Center for Research and Policy Studies (ACRPS) in Kabul, where he worked with the international community, international institutions, the Afghan civil society and as well as with the Afghan government on key economic and governance issues.
Mr. Mir holds an M.A. in economics from George Mason University and Licence & B.S. in physics from the Université Denis Diderot (France) and George Mason University respectively. He has written on the political and economic development of Afghanistan extensively, and his Opeds have appeared in the International Herald Tribune, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, The Times of India, The Hindu Business Line, Asia Times Online and many more. Moreover, his analytical reports are issued and used by the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute of the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies and Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and other prestigious think tanks . He is fluent in English, French, Dari, and Pashto.
